SERVANT LEADERSHIP TRAINING
Newburgh UMC is committed to the well being of every person entrusted to our care. Our calling is to provide safe sanctuary for all of God’s people including our children, youth and vulnerable adults. Newburgh UMC affirms that all children, youth and vulnerable adults have the right to expect safe sanctuary. Therefore, all of our Servant Leaders (ie. adult volunteers) serving in the Children's, Youth and Special Needs Ministries are required to undergo annual background checks and training.
1. APPLY TO SERVE
The first step in becoming a Servant Leadership in ministry at Newburgh UMC is to complete a Servant Application Form. Click on the button to the right >>> to complete an online form. If you prefer a hardcopy contact the main church office.
We recommend that if you are interested in serving in any ministry area that you contact the relevant Ministry Head directly. Let them get to know you and your passion for service. They will be able to guide you through this process, as well as organize specific training for their area and an opportunity to observe/shadow existing Servants.
2. BE TRAINED
3. FEEL CONFIDENT
After watching all three training videos, click on the button to the right >>> to take the assessment. This assessment is designed to make sure that you have digested all the important information and guidelines in our policies.
Watching the three training videos above is important, however we understand that you may have questions or want more detail. Every year we will offer LIVE Abuse Protection & Anti-Bullying Training onsite at Newburgh UMC to be able to discuss and ask questions from the trainer and the other people serving in ministry. Contact the main church office to find out the date for the next LIVE training.
