Newburgh United Methodist Preschool opened in 1982. Since then we have steadily grown to our present size of 206 children and a staff of twelve. We treasure this opportunity to offer this very important first experience in school to so many children.

NUMPS Purpose
Newburgh United Methodist Preschool (NUMPS) is an outreach ministry of Newburgh United Methodist Church. It is a child-centered preschool which provides opportunities in a happy, Christian environment for children to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and spirtually.
NUMPS Goals
To develop in your child a sense of self worth and well being.
To help your child to adjust to a varied social environment.
To provide concrete play experiences in which they can test their own ideas, solve problems, and express their own creativity.
To provide a variety of instruction with “hands on†materials to promote conceptual thinking.
To develop large and small muscle coordination.
To provide opportunities for open or free choice under the teacher’s guidance.
To provide a positive Christian atmosphere in which to work and play.
Parents are an intergral part of NUMPS. They participate in conferences, field trips, parties as well as a variety of classroom activities.
NUMPS Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on activities which are develop-mentally appropriate for preschool children. Sometimes the teacher will direct the activity. Your children will also enjoy many opportunities to choose activities that interest them most.
Many activities are provided to stimulate language skills and build social skills. Learning to listen and follow directions are important goals we help our students achieve.
Children are naturally eager to learn. Science experiencements, cooking, creative art projects, daily music, math, storytelling, and field trips are just a few of the ways to help children to learn at NUMPS. We also have a wonderful outdoor playground and a large indoor playroom.
